Super Sunday

This project explores a story of collaboration that spans centuries, focusing on the unbreakable bond between Black and Native American communities in Louisiana. In the 1700s, enslaved escapees found refuge and friendship among indigenous tribes like the Choctaw and Chickasaw. Over time, a new culture emerged as traditions, languages, music, and customs inter-twined.

This project captures the essence of this unique cultural fusion through evocative photography and interviews. It showcases their daily lives, festivals, and traditions, emphasizing the resilience of a culture shaped by unity.

The aim is to honor their enduring legacy, tribute to the strength born from diversity, and an invitation to celebrate the rich tapestry of Black and Native American culture in Louisiana. March 2018 - June 2023
